The Museum at the Bighorns will hold its annual Cemetery Tours this September. There will be two Living History tours at 7:30PM where actors will portray Sheridanites from the past. On September 3rdparticipants will be visited by Women of Distinction such as Delilah Sonnesberger and Elsa Spear Byron. The following evening, September 4th,the Men of Distinction will make their appearance with big names from Sheridan history like John Kendrick, and a special visit from Buffalo Bill.
Three different tours will occur on the following three Saturdays of September at 10 AM and 1 PM. Headstone Symbolism will take place on September 11th. The tour on September 18th will be Heavy Hitters of Sheridan History. Participants will visit the graves of some of the influential people who helped make Sheridan what it is today. The last cemetery tour will be Law Enforcement on September 25th, telling the stories of Sheriffs and Sheriff Deputies who served Sheridan County.
“The cemetery tours benefit the museum’s education department,” said Mikayla Larrow, Executive Director. “We have a brand new lineup of tours that we hope new and returning participants will enjoy. Tours are limited to 30 people each, so sign up for the ones you want before they fill up!”
Cemetery Tour tickets must be purchased in advance, and can be purchased at the museum or on the museum’s website: museumatthebighorns.org. Living History tours are $25 a ticket and all other tours are $10 a ticket. Participants will need to select a tour time when they sign up.
